Smart Intubation Device
Tracheal intubation is a critical procedure used to secure the airway and facilitate artificial ventilation in settings such as general anesthesia, intensive care units (ICU), and pre-hospital emergency care. Globally, approximately 200–400 million intubations are performed annually.
Despite its importance, the procedure presents significant challenges. In emergency and ICU settings, 20–30% of intubations fail on the first attempt, leading to increased risk of life-threatening complications. Even in patients without risk factors, difficult intubations occur in approximately 5.8% of cases in the USA, with global rates varying from 0.1% to 10%. Difficult or failed intubation is associated with higher morbidity and mortality, prolonged hospitalization, and legal risks.
A key difficulty lies in the absence of a direct visual line between the physician’s eyes and the vocal cords, making precise placement of the endotracheal tube difficult.

avital@mor-research.comOur Smart Intubation Aid is an innovative combination of visualization and intubation tools integrated into a single, compact, and disposable device.
Key features include:
• A small diameter bougie with two distal joints for optimal flexibility: the first joint allows tip movement (up/down), and the second joint enables formation of an S-shape for navigation control.
• A built-in light source and camera at the distal tip, providing real-time visualization via wireless connection to an external screen.
• Use of the Seldinger technique for accurate endotracheal tube placement.
Advantages over existing solutions:
• Minimal space occupation in the oral cavity.
• No sterilization required (disposable).
• Allows documentation of successful intubation.
• Simplifies the procedure and enhances patient safety.
The global market for visual and intubating aids was valued at approximately $2.6 billion in 2022, with an expected CAGR of 6.7%. The laryngoscope segment alone represents a $700 million market, growing at 8.5% CAGR until 2030.
Key players include:
• Storz
• Verathon
• Teleflex Corporation
